It's Oscar day, a High Holy Day for me. This also means Hollywood and environs are an utter madhouse. The Kodak Theater is jus a few short miles away from where I live. I can hear helicopters fluttering overheard continuously and fleets of black limos are slithering up and down Sunset Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. Whole chunks of major streets in West Hollywood are currently closed off to pedestrians and through traffic to accommodate various pre- and post-Oscar parties.
The photo above is what the red carpet looked like last night. With a couple of friends, I attended symposiums (symposia?) at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences headquarters down on Wilshire in honor of the nominated foreign-language film directors, and the makeup and hair nominees. As we left, it was pouring buckets. So the Oscar red carpet has been tented. But right now the weather is beautiful, just a slight nip in the air. On with the show.
