Anyway, it looks like I may be publishing a series of short pieces on the trip for a prominent LGBT website. Just 500 words or so, plus pictures. Haven't sealed the deal just yet, but if it pans out this will
I had lunch with a friend, the author Felice Picano, who gave me some good advice about a book's overarching narrative—in this case, undertaking a pilgrimage across Spain—as well as its underlying narrative, or storyline. And I'm not sure what the latter is going to be for A Knock on the Head.
I'm also looking at writing a quasi-solo performance piece based on my Camino material. Acting teacher and longtime friend Michael Kearns has written and regular performs a similar piece based on a trip he took to South Africa to volunteer in an orphanage. He read from a lecturn and was accompanied by photos projected onto a screen and live music. I think something like that would work quite well for what I'm trying to do. And it would be good PR for the book and get me back to performing, something I've neglected for more than a decade.
Onward and upward...
